Why I Founded The Exceptional Tribe

Hi. I'm Dan. And if you're reading this, we've probably talked over the phone, chatted back and forth on LinkedIn, traded emails or had a video conversation over Zoom/Teams/Meet. We may have even sat down together for coffee or a meal.

Any of those interactions have been good because they represent us getting closer beyond just connecting on social media, sharing a room at an event or sharing a table during a networking event and hearing the same 30-second speech every month – because in my mind, none of that stuff is really getting us anywhere by themselves.

The problem with most of these follow-up conversations is that they're still not enough for my blood to create a relationship that's authentic, strengthens faster and truly benefits us both.

I have a burning desire to get to know more about you on a regular basis, as in monthly or quarterly.

Why? Look, I've done all the groups and all the events. I've connected to thousands of people online and offline. I've filled a contact book. And none of it is designed to naturally push us to grow, deepen our relationships more broadly and become so much smarter about what we want in a genuine way.

That's why I founded The Exceptional Tribe.

When I have been at my lowest in life – from losing a job to losing a client to losing a business –my Exceptional Tribe pulled me through. When I have been at my highest in life, my Exceptional Tribe celebrated my success too. They know my story better than others. They are there for me to listen without judgment and advise me when I need them, even if it's 3am (and vice versa).

They are special. They light me up with their presence and energy. They are the conversation on my calendar that I can't wait to have. They are both safety net in how they've got my back and launchpad in how they inspire me. And just as important as anything, they know how to smile, laugh and make me laugh in the process.

How many people do you know like that in the professional world?

Think about that. Picture the faces of any of the following you have, have recently had or could have:

  • Strategic Partners
  • Referral Partners
  • Close Colleagues
  • Group Allies
  • Client Champions
  • Mentors
  • Coaches

Not a bad bunch to spend time with, right? I know!

The only circle that might be closer to you is the one comprising your own family and oldest friends – that circle is your Heart + Soul. But the ones just outside of that in The Exceptional Tribe come pretty damn close.

I believe with all that I am that if I can have more conversations with these types in my Exceptional Tribe, I will be able to grow my business and the business of others through the most genuine quality. Not just through the most quantity.

How about you?

Whereas everybody tends to gather up connections that only grow the outer shell of their influence, pushing those people farther and farther outward over time, I see the opportunity to do the opposite – connecting and then pushing us farther and farther inward over time, from Connections to Acquaintances to Contacts to The Exceptional Tribe.

How about you?

The community we are building at The Exceptional Tribe is what happens when 120 people driven by a passion to improve upon their marketing, business development, operations, growth rate and leadership come together under one umbrella. In this place, you find content, courses and coaching to help you elevate to your biggest aspirations in these areas of growth – and exceed them.

- We will learn together.
- We will teach and advise one other together.
- We will let down our guard, share our challenges and find support together.
- We will plan and hold each other accountable together.
- We will grow together.
- We will get so much smarter beyond "what we do" together.
- We will become each another's advocate of message and value proposition together.
- We will build our OWN Exceptional Tribes to propel our businesses forward together

With all the determination and focus of a gladiator, we will step into this tribe and win together.

Are you all in on that?

Then there's only one thing left to say:

Welcome to living Exceptional.

Funny thing about conferences and seminars. They're very inspirational until 48 hours later, when they're not. You can get all kinds of jacked up emotionally from what you've learned. You can say, "I'm totally going to put this to good use when I get back!" Yeah...OK. You know what's going to happen. Fast forward a few weeks ahead. Hey, are you using any of that stuff the guru on stage told you to do? What's that? Oh. You're not using any of it. Gee, that sure was a lot of bread you blew going to see colleagues and be inspired for a few days that you can't do anything with. No wonder some people in leadership roles aren't as enamored with trade shows and conferences quite as much as they used to be. Here's the bad news: You can't become someone you're not in half a day, a full day or a weekend. It's never going to happen, friend. Not on a grand scale. The good news: You can gain a skill, one at a time, by: 1) The instructor, in a one-on-one or small group format, focusing exclusively on teaching you ONE skill for a week. 2) In between sessions, you receiving a manageable piece of homework in which you actually PRACTICE that skill you're learning. 3) The group reconvening in a next, interactive and LIVE follow-up session where we discuss what was learned, what questions were raised as a result of the homework and the group helping each other work through any challenges from that work that were experienced. 4) The instructor introducing the next subject matter to come within that same session and the process repeats.

Unlocking the Power of Collective Expertise In the dynamic world of marketing, staying ahead of the curve is crucial. This is where a marketing coaching mastermind comes into play, offering a unique blend of shared expertise, networking, and personal growth. Here's why joining one could be a transformative step for your business: 1. Harnessing Collective Wisdom A mastermind group brings together diverse minds from various facets of marketing. This diversity leads to a rich pool of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Each member brings something unique to the table, allowing you to gain insights that you might not have considered before. It's like having a multi-faceted mentorship, where collective wisdom addresses individual challenges. 2. Accountability and Motivation Staying motivated can be challenging when you're working alone. In a mastermind group, you're not just accountable to yourself but to other members who are invested in your success. This sense of accountability keeps you focused and on track towards your goals, while the shared journey with like-minded individuals keeps the motivation high. 3. Networking and Collaboration Opportunities Networking in a mastermind group goes beyond exchanging business cards. It's about building meaningful, long-term relationships. These connections can lead to collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities that might have been otherwise inaccessible. It's a network that supports, challenges, and grows with you. 4. Real-Time Problem Solving Marketing landscapes are ever-evolving, and so are the challenges. In a mastermind group, you can present your problems and get real-time feedback from people who have been there and done that. It's a space for brainstorming and receiving constructive criticism, turning obstacles into opportunities. 5. Learning Beyond Your Field A mastermind isn't just about refining what you already know; it's also about exploring new territories. You'll be exposed to strategies and ideas outside your immediate area of expertise, broadening your marketing acumen. This interdisciplinary learning is invaluable in a field as interconnected as marketing. 6. Personal and Professional Growth Lastly, a mastermind group isn't just about business growth; it's also about personal development. Engaging with others in meaningful discussions, sharing successes and failures, all contribute to your personal growth. It's a journey of becoming not just a better marketer, but a more rounded individual. Conclusion A marketing coaching mastermind is more than just a group; it's a powerhouse of collective intelligence, a catalyst for professional growth, and a hub for invaluable connections. If you're looking to elevate your marketing game, joining a mastermind might just be the strategic move you need to make. Embrace the collective journey, and watch your business, and yourself, transform.

I couldn't take it anymore. I felt like I was going to snap every morning when I saw it. Things would be going OK until I turned it on and then I felt myself turning into The Incredible Hulk ready to smash things. It was LinkedIn. The platform that was and is perfect for the people I interact with professionally is great. But my feed was getting dominated by a freak show of 4 kinds of people. The 1st kind loved to brag about their Connection counts. "I got my 10,000th Connection!" "Honored and humbled to get my 20,000th Connection! "Ask me how I got to 25,000 Connections!" On top of it, I'd see the 2nd kind of person who loved to brag about their awards, their milestones, their fun team building events, etc. Whee. Good. For. YOU. I'd see the 3rd kind of person performing the Connect N' Pitch: Connecting to you and then selling you hard on their product or service almost immediately. Seriously, do any of these people ever bother to visit our company websites or LinkedIn Profile in-depth? No? Thought so. Finally, the 4th kind of person was the annoying lecturer who told everybody that whatever it was they were doing, they were doing it wrong. I've fallen into this category before, just to show you that nobody's perfect. What all of this behavior has in common is that it's 1-Way Broadcasting. There's no difference between this and posting an advertisement. It's a waterfall of I'm Awesome, You're Not And Here's Why You Should Hire Me To Fix It. People out there are Connecting but they aren't really CONNECTING. It's all a game to ramp up statistics and paint this artificial picture of being an "Influencer." The bigger the audience, the better the opportunity to broadcast to that audience. But the conversation, if you can even call it that, only flows one way. The actual engagement is few and far between. Surprisingly, I thought there was something missing from this experience. So, rather than bitch and moan about it, I've created a private community designed to actually do something about it. Hence, The Exceptional Tribe was born. Everybody on this platform is here because they want to do something more with other professionals beyond a first layer of Connecting or second layer of being an Acquaintance.
